Another LNS Challenge Card

Below is another card that I did for this week's LNS challenge (white-on-white).  I used strips of cardstock that I punched using the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch to create a border.  I then sewed the strips in place using my sewing machine.  It's kind of hard to tell, but I layered a piece of Whisper White Organza Ribbon underneath the Lace Ribbon Border Punch piece.  Here's the details on what I used:

Stamps: None
Inks: None
Papers: Whisper White
Accessories: Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots EF, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch, Lace Ribbon Border Punch, Butterfly Punch, Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Pearls, Mini-Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Sewing Machine/Thread

Mirror Project

My dear friend, Kim, gave me a Southern Living mirror a couple of years ago.  I love to use it at Christmas but got an idea to decorate it for my stamping office.  I placed the SAB Notes Chalkboard Decor Elements on the mirror and then decorated the mirror and the wood edge with Love and Happiness Rub Ons from many SAB years ago!  I liked how it turned out, now I just need to hang this in my office, and get some chalk!

Muffin needed to check out the mirror while I was taking a picture.........

LNS Challenge Wedding Card

This week's LNS challenge is to make a card that is all white; the sentiment can be a different color.  So I came up with the idea to recreate a card that I made a couple of years ago.  Details are below on how to make the dress.  Here's the finished card:

Stamps: Oval All
Inks: Regal Rose
Papers: Whisper White, Vellum c/s
Accessories: Big Shot, Scallop Circle Die, Vintage Wallpaper EF, Framed Tulip EF, Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Pearls, Whisper White 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, Whisper White Paper Daisy, Dimensionals, Mini-Glue Dots

To make the dress:

Cut out a large scallop using Vellum cardstock and the Scallop Circle Bigz Die

Next run the vellum c/s through the Big Shot using the embossing folder of choice.
This sample was made using the Manhattan Flower folder.

I made a template of a dress by running a piece of white c/s through the Big Shot using the Scallop Circle Die.

I lined up the dress where I wanted it to be and cut it out.

I actually made 2 dresses - one using the Manhattan Flower EF
and the other using the Vintage Wallpaper EF
I liked the look of the Vintage dress the best and went with that one instead.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek at my project today!  I'm off to pick up Ben from football practice!

LNS and SCS Challenge Card

Yeah - finally got some time in to do this week's LNS and today's SCS challenge.  The following is the link for the talented "mocjen" on SCS, and you can see her fab gallery HERE. We had to case a card from her gallery, and for this week's LNS challenge is to make a card using product out of the new catty.  Since I don't have any for the new In-Color ribbon, Calypso Coral, I dyed a piece of Whisper White Organza Ribbon instead.  I love the sheer look of this ribbon and how easy it is to dye it.  I colored in the image with Island Indigo and Calypso Coral markers and then stamped in on a piece of watercolor cardstock.  I then filled in the color as needed with my trusty SU watercolor brush.  Here's the details:
Stamps: Simply Soft
Papers: Pool Party, Very Vanilla, Watercolor Paper
Inks: Island Indigo, Calypso Coral
Accessories: Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper EF, Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Pearls, Watercolor Brush, Sponge, Dimensionals

This Week's Creative Sketch

Hey Everyone - How is your summer going?  It is hot, hot, hot here in the Chicagoland area!!  We lost power last week for a couple of days and then the AC unit in my craft room died and it was way to hot to stamp.  Couple that with the start of high school football (oh yeah!!), and I have been MIA for a while.

This week's sketch was to make a card using the following sketch and the Iris Fold Technique.  I have to admit that I had a hard time figuring out how to do this technique, so please forgive my feeble attempt at this weeks challenge!  This the link for a site that has some very cool patterns and tutorials on it for this technique: Iris Folding Pattern

Here's this weeks sketch:
And here is my card:

Stamps: Nature Walk
Papers: Whisper White, Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, Botanical Gazette DP
Inks: Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler
Accessories: Big Shot, Circle Scallop #2 Die, 2-1/2" Circle Punch, Bird Punch (for the leaf), Sewing Machine/Thread, Sponge, Dimensionals, Scissors

Candles

We had one heck of a storm come through Monday morning and just got power back this afternoon.  It was just too hot to stamp (no AC), so I started a puzzle in the dining room to keep busy and used candles for light.  I got this idea from a post I saw on Pinterest and though it looked cool, so I thought I would try to recreate the look.  I used a flash for one picture and w/o a flash for the other.

VC Rocks Anything But A Card Blog Hop!

VC Rocks!

Welcome to the VC Rocks Anything But A Card Blog Hop!  You have just arrived from viewing Kristi Jaenisch's wonderful works of art, and you can link back to her blog HERE.  I hope you are  enjoying all of the fabulous projects you've seen so far; this is such a talented group of stampers!  I have prepared 3 projects for you, and hope you like them.

The first project is a very simple one.  I ran the Northern Frost Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die through my Big Shot using a piece of Brushed Silver cardstock.  I used red and green Rhinestone Brads to attach the snowflakes to the candle.  I did this by pushing the brads through the snowflake opening and directly into the candle.  Very simple, quick and easy - and you can change up the look for different occasions and holidays.

Supplies: Big Shot, Northern Frost Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die, Ice and Fire Circle Rhinestone Brads, Candle, Stand

My next project is a To Do/Calendar binder and matching post-it-note holder that I made for office.  I got the idea for the covers from a picture I saw in the Summer Mini Catalog on page 24.  The binder I used was a bigger than the sample shown, so I added a few more flowers to my cover.  I am so glad that the Beyond the Garden designer paper was carried over into the new catty; I love how bright and colorful it is!  I also like the look of the twisted ribbon and the dimension it gives to projects.  I have found that a strip of sticky strip is the best thing to use to keep the ribbon from coming off.  Here's the details:

Stamps: Fabulous Florets, Inspired by Nature (saying), Charming (saying)
Papers: Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Melon, Mambo, Beyond the Garden
Inks: Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Wild Wasabi, Melon Mambo
Accessories: Small Oval Punch, Decorative Label Punch, Daffodil Delight Satin Ribbon, Pearls, White Baker's Twine, Sticky Strip Tape, Paper Piercing Tool, Dimensionals, Scissors, Sewing Machine, Thread, Coasters, Post-it-Note

For my last project I chose to do a bookmark.  This was another very simple and fun project to do.  I used the Daisies #2 Flower Bigz Die and cut (5) of the large flowers, and (3) each of the medium and small flowers using Island Indigo cardstock.  I also cut (1) large flower using Whisper White cardstock.  I then layered the flowers together, added some Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz and then attached a large Whisper White brad.   I attached the flower to the bookmark using a dimensional.  Here's a front and side view of the flower.

Papers: Island Indigo, Whisper White
Accessories: Big Shot, Daisies #2 Flower Bigz Die, Paper Piercing Tool, White Brad, Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz, Large Paper Clip/Bookmark, Dimensional

Thanks again for stopping by; I hope you enjoyed my projects.  Please also be sure to check out the VC Rocks blog at this link: VC ROCKS BLOG.

My Brother and I

My twin brother is moving to North Carolina at the end of the week and I wanted to give him a picture of the 2 of us.  I dug around in my old pictures and found a very old 1-1/2" x 1-1/4" picture of the 2 of us that was taken in an old photo booth.  I wasn't able to find anyone that could blow it up the way I wanted, so I ended up just simply taking a picture of it with my trusted Canon PowerShot camera.  I then cropped the picture, and added some words from a SU rub-ons that I found.  I hope he likes it!  I am very sad that he is moving; he's my twin bro and I will miss him more than words can say.........

Baby Wrens

Not stamping related, but thought you might enjoy the pictures I took recently of the baby wrens we have by our house.  I love watching the mother wren feeding them and seeing their little mouths open wide for more food!
