3D LNS Challenge

Good morning; it's Monday, spring break and it's snowing.  I can't wait for warmer weather and to not have to wear my winter coat anymore!!

We have a really fun challenge for you this week, and that is to create a 3D project - treat holder, basket, candy bar wrapper, candles, etc.!  Lots of possibilities for this great challenge, and we can't wait to see what you create.  You can load your project on the LNS blog, and you can find the link: HERE.

I saw an absolutely adorable bunny on the Stampin' Up! visitors site made using the Oval Framelits.  Since I don't have these framelits and I thought I would improvise and use the oval punches that I have instead.  The bunny was pretty easy to make, and I think my little guy turned out cute!  This is how I made my version of the bunny from the SU site:

- I used the extra-large oval punch for the body.
- The used the large oval punch for the ears.
- I used the small oval punch for the inside of the ears, hands and feet and the egg (which I then trimmed more).
- The eyes and heart were made using the owl punch.

Here's the rest of the details:

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Inks: Island Indigo
Papers: Very Vanilla, Calypso Coral, Island Indigo, So Saffron, Basic Black, Tea for Two DSP
Accessories: Big Shot, Honey Comb EF, Bitty Banner Framelits, Fancy Favor Bigz XL Die, Extra-large, large and small Oval Punches, Owl Punch, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Punch, Pool Party Baker's Twine, Calypso Coral Ribbon, CAD, Dimensionals, Mini-Glue Dots, Sticky Strip Tape

Combo Challenge Post

Good morning everyone!  I have a combined challenge post using the same stamp set for you this Monday morning......Technostamper Monday Lunchtime Challenge and this week's Late Night Stamper Challenge.  This week's LNS challenge is to use your favorite SAB set.  For me it's the stamp set, Feeling Sentimental.  It's definitely a set I will keep for years to come, and feel it's a great set to use for guy cards.

First Up - The Technostamper Challenge Card

Here is the sketch, and you can click HERE to play along:

For my card, I stamped the phone booth image 3 times, twice using Calypso Coral ink and once using Early Espresso ink onto Very Vanilla c/s.  For the Calypso Coral images, I cut just the doors out on one image and then the whole phone image on the other.  I then layered the phone booth and then the doors over the early Espresso image, and used my Early Espresso inkpad to swipe the edges of the cut out pieces.  I used a piece of Tea for Two DSP for the background, and wanted to grunge it up a bit.  I crumpled up the DSP and then swiped the Early Espresso inkpad over it.  I think it gives it an interesting effect to the paper.  I then added some Very Vanilla Brads and Early Espresso ribbon, and a saying from the set, Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Here's the rest of the details:

Stamps: SAB Feeling Sentimental, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Inks: Calypso Coral, Early Espresso
Papers: Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, Tea for Two DSP
Accessories: Big Shot, Apothecary Accent Dies, Bitty Banner Framelits, Very Vanilla Brads, Early Espresso Ribbon, Sponges, Scissors, Dimensionals

Late Night Stamper Challenge - Saying Goodbye to SAB!

It's hard to believe that this is the last week for this year's SAB - another great selection of FREE stamps and embellishments!  You can download your project HERE.

Once again I went with my favorite set, Feeling Sentimental, for my challenge card.  I love how you can create motion with the bike image, and thought I would go with this look again for my card.  I used the Stamp-a-ma-Jig to help place the bike.  I inked the image up with Soft Suede ink and then just kept stamping the image until the image was very faint.  I then used the Honeycomb EF on only half of the Very Vanilla c/s and then added a strip of First Edition DSP for the background.  I used distressing tool on the edges and then swiped the edges with the Soft Suede inkpad.  Here's more of the details:

Stamps: Feeling Sentimental SAB, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Inks: Soft Suede
Papers: Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, First Edition DSP
Accessories:  Big Shot, Honeycomb EF, Bitty Banner Framelits, 1-3/8" Square Punch, Soft Suede Brads and Ribbon, Vintage Trinkets, Early Espresso Baker's Twine, Distressing Tool, Paper Piercing Tool, Dimensionals

Late Night Stampers Challenge:

We all need guy cards, and they seem to be the hardest to make.  So this week's challenge is to a guy card and we have some great samples to get your started.  Here's the link to upload your favorite guy card when you're done: LNS Blog

I saw a card on PI that the incredibly talented Michelle Zindorf crafted and I knew I wanted to try my hand at the direct to paper technique as well.  Michelle's has a wonderful tutorial on her blog on how she created her card; which you can find HERE.

And below is my card; I changed it up by added a strip of black ribbon and brads at the corner.  I am amazed at how incredibly simply this technique is and how stunning the results are!  My colors are a little more mutted than hers, but I still like the results.

Inks: Basic Black, Old Olive, Pool Party, Baja Breeze, Marina Mist, So Saffron
Papers: Whisper White, Old Olive, Basic Black, Marina Mist
Accessories: Big Shot, Chevron EF, Basic Black Ribbon and Brads, Square Corner Punch, Sponges, Dimensionals, SAMJ

LNS Spring is in the Air Challenge

This week's LNS challenge is to create a project with flowers in tribute to spring!  I wish spring was in the air here in Chicago; instead we are suppose to get a winter storm tomorrow!  I have to admit that I did a rush job on my card.  I ran all my errands to today (in case we really do get a big snow storm), and when I got home, I heard that one of the students from my son's high school was missing.  That really threw me for a loop since she was one of the football managers on my son's football team last year.  Hard to focus on stamping when you're praying like crazy that she is ok!  I am happy to report that she is has been found and is home safe and sound!

I created my card using the Artisan Embellishment Kit that is in the current Spring catalog.  I carefully sponged some Soft Suede on a doily and then rolled it to create a holder for the flowers.  I embossed a piece of 5-1/4" x 4" of Very Vanilla with the Lacy Brocade EF for the background.  Added the embellishments and ticket from the kit, and there you have it!  Easy, peasy!

Your turn!  When you're done with your tribute to spring, you can simply load your work of art HERE.

Here's the details on my card:

Stamps: Artisan Embellishment Kit
Papers: Very Vanilla
Accessories: Big Shot, Lacy Brocade EF, Pearls, Mini-Glue Dots, Adhesive

Here's the details:

Stamps: Simply Soft, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Inks: Soft Suede, Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler
Papers: Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Botanical Gazette DSP
Accessories: Big Shot, Apothecary Accent Die, Bitty Banner Framelits, Bitty Butterfly Punch, CAD, Tea Lace Paper Dollie, Pearls, Lacy Brocade EF, Dimensionals
