This Week's Creative Sketch

This has been one super busy week for me and I almost didn't get my challenge card done for this week!  Ben is doing double wrestling sessions and believer it or not, I am busy helping getting stuff ready for the upcoming football season at MHS!  Thanks for stopping by this Thursday, hope you will play along with this week's sketch:

And here is my card...........I love the new hostess set, Soft Flowers!  What a versatile and beautiful set!  I inked up the flower image with Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive markers and stamped it on a 2-1/2" circle piece of Whisper White.  I grabbed some color off the markers tips with my trusty watercolor brush and added color to the images.  I cut a matching scallop circle using a piece of Rich Razzleberry c/s and my Scallop #2 Circle Die, and then ran it through my Big Shot using the Elegant Lines embossing folder.  I'm off to pick up Ben from camp; here's the details:

Happiest Birthday Wishes Medallion Card

Ok, I need your opinion on the following cards.  I inked up the Medallion image stamp with a Poppy Parade inkpad.  I paired this color with Chocolate Chip to see how they would work together. Stamped the birthday image from the new hostess set, Happiest Birthday Wishes, twice - once with Chocolate Chip ink and then with Poppy Parade ink.  I love using the distressing tool to create this look; this great tool makes it so easy to distress and rip the edges.  What I can't decided is if I should leave the pearls on the stitched ribbon or leave them off.  What do you think?
With pearls..........
Stamps: Happiest Birthday Wishes, Medallion Background Stamp, Elements of Style
Inks: Poppy Parade, Chocolate Chip
Papers: Whisper White, Poppy Parade, Chocolate Chip

Featured Stamper

The challenge on SCS yesterday was to case a card from the incredibly talented Mary Brown.  You can find Mary's wonderful gallery HERE.  I used one of the new In Colors, Island Indigo as the main focus color, and paired it with Baja Breeze and Rich Razzleberry.  Have a great day everyone, I need to get Ben up for wrestling camp and hope to do more stamping later on.  Here's the details:

Simply Soft Hostess Set

I got my new "toys" the other day from Stampin' Up! and wanted to try out the new Lace Ribbon Border Punch and one of the new hostess sets, Simply Soft.  I watercolored the flower image in with Baja Breeze, Early Espresso and the new In Color, Calypso Coral.  This was a very simple card to make and I really like how it turned out!  Here's the details:

Graduation Card

I made the following graduation card for a friend of my daughter's.  I downloaded the bottom part (the feet and robes) using the image, Go Graduate Plus, from MDS on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I then watercolored in the images using my trusty watercolor brush.  For the diploma, I cut a piece of 1-1/2" x 3" piece of typing paper and rolled it around the handle of a very thin watercolor brush.  I added 2 pearls on the shoes to the right using the little pearls from the Jewels Basic Pearls strip.  I ran the top half of the white cardstock through the Perfect Polka Dot EF to give the top of the card a little more dimension.  Here's the rest of the details:

Stamps: Happy Grad, Go Graduate Plus (MDS)
Inks: Real Red, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Pacific Point, Wild Wasabi
Papers: Whisper White, Real Red, Basic Black, Real Red DP
Accessories: MDS, Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dot EF, Basic Black Ribbon & Brads, Pearls, Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine, Watercolor Brush, Paper Piercing Tool, Typing Paper, Dimensionals, Sticky Strip

VCROCKS BLOG HOP!

VCRocksBlogheader

Welcome to my stamping blog and the VCRocks Big Shot Blog Hop!  You can find a complete list of all the blogs for this fun hop HERE.  I hope you have a good cup of coffee as you blog hop and view all of the awesome projects.  This month's blog hop showcases all the wonderful projects you make using the Big Shot.  I love, love my Big Shot and hope you like the projects I have done.

Thanks Card - The first project I chose to do is a case from the current catalog, and is an example of a Clean and Simple card (CAS).  I love how using something simple as an Embossing Folder can add so much dimension and wow to a card.  I used  the Elegant Lines EF on my card front, and then tied a piece of Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon around the front.  I stamped "thanks" on a piece of Whisper White c/s using Early Espresso ink; I then cut it out using the extra-large oval punch.  I then attached the saying using a small piece of the White Baker's Twine.

Stamps: Thank You Kindly
Inks: Early Espresso
Papers: Baja Breeze, Whisper White
Accessories: Big Shot, Elegant Lines Embossing Folder, Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon, Extra Large Oval Punch, White Baker's Twine, Paper Piercing Tool, Dimensional

Sail Away Thank You Card - For my next project I used the set from the Summer Mini, Sail Away.  I created a mask using the 1-3/4" Circle Punch and a piece of typing paper that I placed over the boat.  I then sponged So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie and Tango Tangerine to create the image of the sun.  I stamped the boat image twice - once on the die cut piece of Whisper White and then on a scrap piece of Whisper White.  I cut out just the sails from the image stamped on the scrap piece of white and then attached them using Dimensionals on the stamped top note image.    I lightly sponged Pacific Point around the boat for the water, and then added a little bit of Pumpkin Pie and So Saffron over that to create the look of the sun reflecting off the water.  I used the Top Note and the Square Lattice Embossing Folder for this project.

Stamps: Sail Away, Just Believe (saying)
Inks: Early Espresso, So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point
Papers: Pacific Point, Whisper White
Accessories: Big Shot, Square Lattice EF, Top Note Die, Early Espresso Brads and Satin Ribbon, Word Window Punch, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, Sponges, Dimensionals

Top Note Purse - For my final project I wanted to do something other than a card.  I saw a tutorial that Becky Roberts had done for a Top Note Purse and thought it was really cute.  You can find the great tutorial HERE on Becky's wonderful blog.  I used a number of dies for this project (which are listed below) that really show the versatility of things you can make using the Big Shot!

Above are the basic pieces for the purse. The dies I used were the Top Note, Clear Circle and Scallop Circle.  Below is my finished project:

Stamps: None
Inks: None
Papers: BAB Workshop Pawsitively Prints DP, Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz
Accessories: Big Shot, Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die, Clear Circle, Scallop Circle, Top Note, 5-Petal Flower Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Bird Punch, Pear Pizzazz Ribbon, Antique Brass Jumbo Eyelets, CAD, 5/8" Whisper White Brad, White Brad, Paper Piercing Tool, Dimensionals, Mini-Glue Dots, Velcro Dot, Scissors

This Week's Creative Sketch

I love the colors we used for this week's sketch - Real Red, Wild Wasabi, Soft Suede and Whisper White.  Doesn't that strawberry look yummie??
And below is what I created using these colors.  I used a retired set that I still love to use now and then, In Full Bloom for this sketch.  I stamped the flower on a piece of white c/s and watecolored the image in using Real Red.  I have some retired tags left and took the c/s out of the tag so just the ring itself was left and layered that behind the flower.  Here's the image and details:
Stamps: In Full Bloom, Itty Bitty Backgrounds, You're a Gem (saying)
Inks: Soft Suede, Basic Black, Real Red, Wild Wasabi
Papers: Whisper White, Real Red, Soft Suede, Wild Wasabi DP from Hostess Pack
